Ground Transportation in Salvador
•Shuttle buses
–We will provide free shuttle buses for the XI CISBGf delegates wearing their badges during the convention period, from/to the main hotels in the Salvador shore line and the Convention Center
•Salvador Airport
–Arriving at Salvador Int’l Airport, there are two kind of taxis to go from the airport to any place in Salvador:
•Those are better cars, for sure with Air Conditioning, they do not have meters. Prices are pre-set according to the destination and tickets are purchased inside the airport in a booth at the same hall you pick up your luggage. They do accept all major credit cards or Brazilian R$ (Reais)
•You can pick up a white cab (common) outside the airport, just across the street when you leave the airport. They do have meter and fare is lower than Special. You pay what is shown on the meter, in local currency. No credit card or foreign currency accepted. There’s an organized line and be sure to ask for air conditioning.
•On the Hotels
–Taxis are currently available outside the hotel, you can ask the bell man to call a taxi for you.
–Most of the hotels have both common (with meter) and special (without meter) taxis outside.
–Feel free to ask either special or common.
–If you choose common, be sure to ask for air conditioning. You can refuse a taxi if the car is in bad shape.
–If you choose special, be sure to ask the fare rate before you get into the taxi.
•Outside for dinner or entertainment
–If you’re going out on the city, we recommend you schedule the return by taxi or call by phone either common or special. There are plenty of taxi companies with 24hr service.
–Most restaurants have taxis outside and they will be kindly pleased to help you, either attending or calling another taxi for you return.
–So far we recommend you always bring the hotel directions with you. Salvador is a touristic place and the majority of taxi drivers know all the hotels in town.
–Please carry change, i.e. bills of R$5,00 or R$10,00 or R$20,00 for taxis, since large bills of R$50,00 and R$100,00 may not have change.
